Mining City Review: Is it a Pyramid Scheme? Read this before you invest!

As you’re searching for a legitimate investment online, you might have come across a company called Mining City.

It might have aroused your interest and want to more if they are a scam or legit source of income.

If this is what’s bothering you, then this review is what you’re looking for.

In this content, I will provide you an analysis of their business opportunity and help you determine whether to invest or should you search for other investments.

So without further delays, let’s begin my Mining City review…

What is Mining City?

Mining City is an investment company that offers income opportunities through recruitment.

Although you might hear regarding them as an MLM, I believe that they are more of a pyramid scheme or Ponzi because they don’t have retail products to offer.

Mining City was founded by Grzegorz Rogowski.

The date of inception was unclear, but their domain suggests that it was created way back in 2003.

I also reviewed other MLMs with similar nature in the past. You can check them out if you like—Tradera, Kangot, Unitex Capital, and Million Money, just to name a few.

The Mining City business opportunity

Complicated and almost incomprehensible compensation plans are the hallmark of pyramid schemes and Multi-Level Marketing.

They are so convoluted that it seems like you’d need the assistance of an expert finance person to decipher the entire thing. The one offered by Mining City is no different.

Their compensation plan is as complicated as it can get. But for this review, I will only be discussing some of the important points for better understanding.

But in dealing with pyramid schemes and multi-level marketing, you only have to put two things in mind, and it includes the following—

• Retail or referral commission – it is income that’s based on retail sales or the payouts made by your referrals.
• Recruitment – it is the basis for their bonuses and commissions.

Businesses engaged in network marketing make their compensation plan as complicated as possible to prevent potential investors from asking too many questions.

By doing so, evades them from answering questions that may expose the flaws of the business.

And to completely save themselves, they would just show you how high the potential income would be.

Yes, it’s a little sketchy, but effective nonetheless.

Ranks and advancements

Mining City currently rewards eight ranks, namely—

• Resident
• Citizen
• City Builder
• City Developer
• City Manager
• Chief City Manager
• City Mayor
• Governor

To advance in rankings and qualify for commissions and bonuses, the representative must meet the following qualifications—

Resident

It is Mining City’s basic membership plan. And the qualifications are as follows:

• Their only requirement is to avail of a personal purchase of at least $300. Such a transaction yields 0.5 binary points.

Citizen

The qualification to become a Citizen includes:

• Their only requirement is to avail of a personal purchase of at least $600. Such a transaction yields one binary point.

City Builder

In order to reach and maintain the status of City Builder, the representative must be able to meet the following requirements—

• Recruitment of at least five Citizens.
• Personal purchase that’s amounting to at least $600. Such a transaction yields one binary point.
• They have to generate at least a total of $12,000 in sales volume.

City Developer

In order to reach and maintain the status of City Developer, the representative must be able to meet the following requirements—

• Personal Purchase that’s amounting to at least $600. Such a transaction yields one binary point.
• They have to maintain at least five personally recruited representative.
• All of them must be active.
• Three of their five personal recruitments must be in the ranks of City Builders. And then, at least one is in your Team A.
• They have to generate at least a total of $60,000 Sales Volume from their lower network.

City Manager

In order to reach and maintain the status of City Manager, the representative must be able to meet the following requirements—

• Personal Purchase that’s amounting to at least $2,400. Such a transaction yields four binary points.
• They have to maintain at least five personally recruited representative.
• All of them must be active.
• Three of their five personal recruitments must be in the ranks of City Developers. And then, at least one is in your Team A.
• They have to generate at least a total of $300,000 Sales Volume from their lower network.

Chief City Manager

In order to reach and maintain the status of Chief City Manager, the representative must be able to meet the following requirements—

• Personal Purchase that’s amounting to at least $4,200. Such a transaction yields seven binary points.
• They have to maintain at least five personally recruited representative.
• All of them must be active.
• Three of their five personal recruitments must be in the ranks of City Managers. And then, at least one is in your Team A.
• They have to generate at least a total of $2,400,000 Sales Volume from their lower network.

City Mayor

In order to reach and maintain the status of City Mayor, the representative must be able to meet the following requirements—

• Personal Purchase that’s amounting to at least $12,600. Such a transaction yields 21 binary points.
• They have to maintain at least five personally recruited representative.
• All of them must be active.
• Three of their five personal recruitments must be in the ranks of Chief City Managers. And then, at least one is in your Team A.
• They have to generate at least a total of $12,000,000 Sales Volume from their lower network.

Governor

In order to reach and maintain the status of Governor, the representative must be able to meet the following requirements—

• Personal Purchase that’s amounting to at least $13,800. Such a transaction yields 23 binary points.
• They have to maintain at least five personally recruited representative.
• All of them must be active.
• Three of their five personal recruitments must be in the ranks of City Mayors. And then, at least one is in your Team A.
• They have to generate at least a total of $100,000,000 Sales Volume from their lower network.

What are its income streams?

In this section of the review, I have summarized their compensation plan so that you may understand a little better—

Binary Tree Bonus

This bonus is based on the income cycles generated by your lower network.

The cycles are based on your rankings—

• Resident – one cycle per day with a maximum of $200.
• Citizen – four cycles per day with a maximum of $800.
• City Builder - five cycles per day with a maximum of $1,000.
• City Developer - six cycles per day with a maximum of $1,200.
• City Manager - eight cycles per day with a maximum of $1,600.
• Chief City Manager - ten cycles per day with a maximum of $2,000.
• City Mayor - twelve cycles per day with a maximum of $2,400.
• Governor - fourteen cycles per day with a maximum of $2,800.

Binary Matching Bonus

This income is based on those earned by your lower network through the Binary Tree Bonus.

Also, how deep the level you’ll be earning depends on your rank. The summary is as follows—

• Resident – the representative, only earns within the first level.
• Citizen – the representative, earns up to two levels deep.
• City Builder - the representative earns up to four levels deep.
• City Developer - the representative earns up to six levels deep.
• City Manager - the representative, earns up to eight levels deep.
• Chief City Manager - the representative, earns up to nine levels deep.
• City Mayor - the representative, earns up to ten levels deep.
• Governor - the representative, earns up to eleven levels deep.

Plan Bonus

Mining City adapts something called the hybrid unilevel model of networking marketing.

It is still the same unilevel model wherein the representative puts their personal recruitments within the first level.

The exception is that the representative gains additional benefits when certain conditions are met.

For example, the representative earns a 5% commission from investments made by each of the recruited residents that are placed in Team A.

And then, a 10% commission is earned from personally recruited residents that are placed in Team B.

In addition, they also receive the following income...

From the sixth personally recruited citizen, the representative shall also earn the following—

• Citizen ranks – they earn a 5% referral commission up to 10 levels deep.
• City Builder ranks - they earn a 5% referral commission up to 15 levels deep.
• City Developers - they earn a 5% referral commission up to 20 levels deep.
• City Managers - they earn a 5% referral commission up to 30 levels deep.
• City Chief Managers/City Mayor/Governor - they earn a 5% referral commission an all levels.

Residual Bonus

The residual bonus offered by Mining City is based on repurchases made by those under your network.

The commission rate and how many generations shall be based on your ranks.

Also, you need to be in the ranks of at least City Builder to become eligible.

The summary is as follows—

• City Builder – first generation (1%), second generation (1%), and third generation (0.5%).
• City Developer – first generation (1%), second generation (1%), and third generation (0.5%).
• City Manager - first generation (1%) and second-generation (1%).
• Chief City Manager - first generation (1%) and second-generation (1%).
• City Mayor - first generation (1%) and second-generation (1%).
• Governor - first generation (1%) and second-generation (1%).

Does their compensation plan excite you?

Well, you shouldn’t be!

According to the Federal Trade Commission, only 1% of people who join network marketing succeed. I will explain this further in the following sections.

How much will it cost me to join them?

The cost of joining Mining City is as follows—

• Primary membership package – it costs $300 and provides 0.5 binary points.
• Standard membership package - it costs $600 and provides 1 binary point.
• Bronze membership package - it costs $1,200 and provides 2 binary points.
• Silver membership package - it costs $2,400 and provides 4 binary points.
• Gold membership package - it costs $4,200 and provides 7 binary points.
• Platinum membership package - it costs $12,600 and provides 21 binary points.

As you see, the investment cost is relatively expensive, considering how risky their investment is.

But if you’re looking for a better source of income, one that’s less risky and yields higher income, then you have check out the following description—

Is it a reliable source of income?

Success in Multi-Level Marketing is extremely rare. This is especially true if the company is engaged in pyramid schemes or Ponzi’s.

According to research conducted by the Federal Trade Commission, 99% of people who join MLMs are more likely to incur losses than gain any significant income.

This instance was elaborately discussed in Jon Taylor’s book, “Multi-Level Marketing Unmasked.”

Recruitment is the bread and butter, or to put a more accurate term, the lifeblood of network marketing in general. This includes businesses that are engaged in Multi-Level Marketing, pyramid schemes, and Ponzi’s.

This is certainly the case with Mining City. With no retail products to offer, their entire structure is dependent on recruitment, which also makes them suspiciously more of a pyramid scheme or Ponzi than a Multi-Level Marketing.

Multi-Level Marketing and pyramid scheme are essentially the same, with only the exception of retail sales.

In an MLM setting, they also function as a direct selling company wherein they provide members with retail merchandise that they can resell for profits.

But you have to bear in mind that both business models still heavily rely on recruitment, which makes them high-risk.

Pyramid schemes and Ponzi’s are much worse than MLMs.

In fact, they are banned and considered an outright scam in several countries around the globe like the Philippines, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and the United States, just to name a few.

You have to bear in mind that a recruitment-based business model is extremely flawed that they could collapse anytime.

Imagine this—if representatives at the bottom were unable to recruit sufficient people into the network, even let’s say with the aid of its upper network, it would lead them not to earn anything and incur losses eventually.

As this event continues, they’d become inactive and quit the business altogether.

And then, this cycle continues up to the next level until the structure finally collapsed.

What I Don't Like About Mining City

Success is recruitment-based

Your success is mainly dependent on recruitment.

Labeled as a Ponzi scheme in the Philippines 

Recently, the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Philippines has indicated that Mining City is a Ponzi scheme.

In addition, they have prohibited their promotion within the country. Any violators are said to receive serious charges.

No BBB credentials

The Better Business Bureau, or simply the BBB, is one way most people do to check the credibility of a business.

Not having one doesn’t immediately indicate that the business or investment is fraudulent in any way, but it may definitely impact the decision-making of potential investors.

What I Like About Mining City

I didn’t find any reason to believe that Mining City is a good investment.

Final thoughts

I hope my Mining City review has provided you sufficient information in determining whether to invest in the company or not.

But in either case, the company is just too risky and was even banned in a country to promote its investment and recruit people.
