Is Purium a Scam

What is Purium?

Purium is an MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) company that sells health and wellness products, particularly those related to weight loss.

It also includes products like dietary supplements, cleansing, anti-aging, and improving your performance.

They were incepted in 1993 but were converted into an MLM company in 2004.

It was co-founded by Dave Sandoval and Amy Venner-Hamdi. You can read about their story here.

I also have reviewed health and wellness MLMs in the past. You can check them out if you like—Usana, Vida Divina, Touchstone Essentials, Enhanzz Global, Verway, and Stemtech, just to name a few of them.

The Purium business opportunity

Complex and almost incomprehensible compensation plans are the hallmarks of Multi-Level Marketing. And those offered by Purium is not different.

It is so convoluted that it seems like you’d even need an expert finance person to decipher the whole document.

When dealing with MLMs, you only have to remember two things—

  • Retail commissions – it is the income based on retail sales.
  • Recruitment – it is the bread and butter of MLMs because it is where there bonuses and commissions are mostly based from.

Most MLMs make their compensation plan as complex as possible to confuse potential recruits and prevent them from asking too many questions that may expose the business model’s flaws.

And to completely save themselves, they would just discuss how high the supposed potential income is and show you the luxurious lifestyle of their representatives—does this sound familiar?

It may sound a little misleading but effective nonetheless.

Anyway, let’s continue…

There are several ways how you can earn with Purium, and it includes the following—

  • Retail Commissions
  • Recruitment Commissions
  • First Order Bonus
  • Residual Commissions
  • Matching Bonus
  • Infinity Bonus
  • Achievement and Matching Achievement Bonuses
  • Lifestyle Bonus
  • Diamond Pool Bonus
  • Crown Pool Bonus

I have summarized them in the following section, so that you may understand them a little better.

Also, the company currently rewards 17 ranks. The ranks and qualifications for advancements are as follows—

Tired Of Expensive MLMs?

Here is A Way Better Alternative!

Is it a reliable source of income?

Success in Multi-Level Marketing is extremely rare.

According to the Federal Trade and Commission, 99% of people who join them are more likely to incur losses than gain any income.

This instance was elaborately discussed in Jon Taylor’s book, “Multi-Level Marketing Unmasked.”

Let’s take for example the 2015 Income Disclosure statement of Purium—

Is Purium a Scam

As you see above, 99.14% of their representative is averaging $2,400 in a year!

It was further explained that MLMs fail to meet expectation because of two things—

Capitalization

Have you heard of Garage Qualified?

It is a special term used to describe MLM representatives that tend to over-purchase company products for the sake of improving the personal volume or keeping their status in the organization.

This can become problematic, especially if the representative is not earning, or worse, incurring losses, but still, have to maintain their personal volume.

Recruitment

Recruitment is the bread and butter, or lifeblood to put a more accurate term of Multi-Level Marketing. This is because, without it, the entire structure will collapse.

Imagine this—if the people at the very bottom of the network were unable to recruit sufficient people under them, it means that they won’t earn anything as well.

And to make matters worse, they may still have to maintain their personal volume to be active in the business.

Apparently, it may result in losses eventually. And then, it may lead them to become inactive and quitting the business opportunity altogether.

This problematic cycle will continue up to the next level—up until the structure finally collapses.

Here Is My Best Work At Home Recommendation For Newbies!

Is Purium a scam?

I did not find any reason to believe that Purium is a pyramid scheme or scam.

Purium is a legitimate MLM company that sells health and wellness products, particularly weight loss.

However, some of you might argue that Multi-Level Marketing is essentially a pyramid scheme that disguises themselves as a direct selling company.

Although I agree to some degree, MLMs are different from a pyramid in regards to legality.

MLMs are technically legal because they also function as a direct selling company. They exchange something of value in return for your initial investment.

And these values are in the form of retail merchandise which they can sell for profits.

On the other hand, a pyramid scheme doesn’t offer anything but a promise of high returns. This makes them high risk. In fact, they are banned in many parts of the world, including the United States, Canada, Germany, Albania, Romania, France, and Germany, just to name a few of them.

What I Don't Like About Purium

Success is recruitment based

Your success in MLMs depends on recruitment, and not really about the products.

Expensive initial fees

To become a representative of Purium, they may have to pay for the packages that cost from $249 to $1,000.

Low-income potential

As you earlier, chances of earning any reliable income from them are slim.

What I Like About Purium

Large product list

They offer a wide range of products to offer.

They are in business for a long time

The company is operating for about 16 years now.

Final thoughts

I hope my content has provided you the answer to these all-important questions—is Purium a scam? Or are they a good source of income?

Although Purium is technically legitimate, I still don’t recommend them or any MLMs for that matter.

The possibility of earning any significant income is low, and incurring losses is much greater than gaining profits.
