If you already have experience with paid survey platforms, you basically earn more by participating in marketing research activities and providing them honest feedback about a specific topic.

But you might ask how the company benefits from this? Well, it gives them huge help in terms of consumer behavior or tendencies.

Having such information enables them to improve marketing strategies to create more profits.

That’s how simple it is! You earn by helping them obtain such information. It may not sound as useful to you, but it is valuable insight to them.

You gather the data they needed, and you earn your money—it’s a win-win situation.

How does the Octopus Group work?

The actual paid surveys would only take you for a few minutes to an hour, depending on the topic and how many questions are there.

Octopus Group claims that they have the highest paying rate of paid surveys in Australia. Well, in fact, they are offering about 80% to 400% higher than their competitors.

Comparing to other paid survey sites that only offer an average of $0.20 to a max of $1, Octopus Groups offers income from $2 to $4.

As mentioned earlier, you also earn a $1 commission through referrals.

After taking the survey, you will have the option of whether you like to receive it as cash or gift cards.

If you choose cash, then it will be credited into your account.

However, you need to accumulate $20 first before you can request a bank transfer.

Yes, you’ve heard that right. You will need to provide your bank information because it is their mode of transfer.

I’m not sure about their procedures with gift cards, but based on my experience on the other platforms—they would normally send it through email.

Is it a reliable source of income?

If you’re thinking of quitting your regular job and do a paid survey gig instead, then you’re making a huge mistake, my friend.

Even if their rates are the highest among other paid survey sites, potential income from such platforms won’t be enough to help you settle your monthly expenses.

Paid surveys and other similar platforms such as GPTs and PTCs are a good source of side income only.

Also, you have to take note that your income won’t be consistent because the invites aren’t going to be that frequent.

There may be times that you may have to wait for days before you get one single invitation.

Is Octopus Group a scam?

Octopus Group is one of the most reputable paid survey platforms in Australia. So I believe that they are far from being a scam.

You are in good hands if ever you consider the as a side hustle.

However, some may lead to believe that they are a scam due to time wasted as a result of the initial evaluation before the actual survey.

After getting an invite, they would go the trouble of answering the screening test but get rejected anyway.

Also, the company deducts referral income anytime people you have referred to become inactive.

In case that you have withdrawn all your earnings, you will still be deducted and come out as a negative balance in your account.

It was reported that Octopus Group doesn’t notify its members if their accounts are to be deactivated. Or a deduction of referral income shall take place for active members.

It could be really frustrating, especially if you have referred a lot of people and earned a huge income as a result.

What I Don't Like About Octopus Group

Low-paying

Paid surveys, GPT, PTC, or any online money-making scheme are typically low-paying.

They deduct income earned without prior notice

Octopus Group deducts any income you’ve earned without notice as soon as your referred member becomes inactive.

No BBB credentials

The Better Business Bureau or simply the BBB is one way people check the credibility of a company.

Not having a profile with the BBB doesn’t immediately conclude that the business is fraudulent in any way. However, it may significantly impact the decision-making of potential members.

High withdrawal threshold

The minimum withdrawal is $20, which is a little bit higher compared to other platforms.

No PayPal option

Today, PayPal is the most convenient way to transfer money from person-to-person—it’s easy and fast.

However, their transfer method is through online banking, which is a little bit risky because you have to provide your banking details.

Also, it may take days before your earnings are transferred.
